Today started out so well. The sun is shining, it's warm outside, and I'm wearing a tank top, capris and birkenstocks.
I felt energetic and "light".
My feet didn't hurt and weren't swollen.
I slept well last night (for being 8 1/2 months pregnant).
Then...
I discovered two major mistakes I made on student budgets at work, and now because of my mistake, the students will either owe back some money or not have any for summer term. Understandably, students get pretty upset about this so I am a bit stressed about it.
Then...
We have a very rigid schedule at work. If I am scheduled to take my lunch break at a certain time and then miss it, my oversight messes up the whole schedule for the day. Think domino effect on all of my co-workers. So guess what I did? I was supposed to take lunch at noon, and while working on the above, I completely forgot to take my lunch. I was reminded at 12:50 and got out for about ten minutes. Just wonderful on this lovely day when I should have been soaking up sunshine for an hour.
Then...
I was walking (waddling?) in the sunshine, talking on my cell phone to the vacuum manufacturer representative about replacing some vacuum parts. She had a lovely British accent that helped me relax. As I spoke with her, I saw a friend and turned to wave at her. So picture this: Talking, waddling, waving and looking behind me as I walk forward. This is far too much multi-tasking for a pregnant lady (well for pregnant Kate anyway). I fell right into a hole. I didn't fall down, literally, but surprised stepped into a hole that was about 2 feet deep. It was actually pretty funny. The university should cover that up before somebody sues!
Then...
My feet have blown up. My birkenstocks are actually tight on my feet!
Well, the day's not over yet, but for now, I have my feet up, I am nursing my wounds and ego with a strawberry yogurt parfait and looking forward to my baby shower tomorrow.
Thank God it's Friday!
